Home care is a suffering business that fights to stay alive for the sake of the disabled and elderly who want to remain at home while they have lost their independence. Worker's compensation insurance is a necessary evil that causes most companies to compromise or quit. The compromise happens when good companies choose the 1099/vendor or "independent contractor" route for caregivers to avoid Worker's Comp Insurance. This route protects nobody and is illegal classification anyway. When we have employees, we must pay for insurances that protect our employees from injury and our clients from being sued for injuries. Our caregivers deserve higher pay for the care they give. We could provide higher quality caregivers if we could pay them more. If everyone worked together with safe practices to avoid injury, we should be able to lower costs. But no! Worker's comp insurances want to bleed us dry, driving up cost, lowering our ability to pay higher wages and offer lower rates. I've been in business ten years and even though my expertise has proven to lower my claims to zero for years, the cost of insurance is killing us. Enough already with the lack of competitive rates. Enough with the deception and monopoly on Michigan home care WC by Accident Fund Insurance who puts the screws on its own clients every year with every audit, fighting to make sure it costs more than it really does. Accident Fund owes us some money and apologies for crushing our businesses and causing stress. I don't want them anymore and I'm looking for the door. I'll find it and I'm hoping they get taken down from their undeserved throne and ivory tower! It seems they are in kahoots even, with people suing them for no reason and they pay out without a fight even when you know it's a fraudulent claim. Thereby raising OUR rates again because they refused to fight the silly claim. Enough with the fraud Accident Fund! You're going down!
